Being recognised as a credible addition to the world of chocolate-making has not only given us a warm fuzzy glow, but is also a way of showing you, our lovely customer, just how good we are.  

Great Taste Awards 2019
1 Star Rating for our Icelandic Lava Salted Caramel

Great Taste, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for fine food and drink. It has been described as the ‘Oscars’ of the food world and the ‘epicurean equivalent of the Booker prize’. Quite simply the Great Taste logo is the sign you can trust when buying food and drink in your local, quality retailer.

This was our first ever award entry back in August 2019 and out of nearly 13,000 products from over 100 different countries, the judges chose to award our Icelandic Lava Salted Caramel a 1-star Great Taste award (something achieved by only 25% of entries) recognising ‘food that delivers fantastic flavour’. 

What the judges said 

Icelandic Lava Salted Caramel “Very attractive and memorable presentation. Distinct flavours, particularly the smooth filling (superb).” 

“Delightful looking chocolate. Filling smooth and creamy with a gentle salting.”

 

Prettily decorated chocolate. The chocolate is smooth and rich and the filling is creamy and contrasts well. The amount of salt is well judged and just cuts the richness of the chocolate.”

Bronze Awards for our Peanut Supreme & Caramel Passion

The Academy of Chocolate is an independent membership body that promotes real chocolate. The Academy showcases great taste, encourages sustainable and ethical production, and provides educational opportunities.

Launched in 2005, the prestigious Academy of Chocolate awards seek to identify, recognise and showcase the world’s most talented chocolate producers and finest chocolates.  The awards are judged by leading chocolatiers, producers, journalists, bloggers, food writers, and other chocolate experts from across the industry.

Again, these were our first ever Academy of Chocolate entries and out of over 1,600 submissions, from more than 45 countries, we won two Bronze awards.  Not bad for a first attempt - entered two, won two!

What the judges said

Peanut Supreme “Well balanced flavours, creative idea on the layer structure, very clean initial peanut flavour, beautiful texture, great skills on moulding.”

Caramel Passion chocolate  “Beautiful both outside and in. The fill was good and a beautiful tropical smell of passionfruit was enhanced by the aroma of honey.  On the palate an extremely well-balanced caramel and citrus wedded perfectly."
